[ you know, jim's not sure what he expected the answer from the vulcan prince to be. he tried not to put any expectations on it. the guy's a brilliant scientist: jim's seen some of his work, read some of his papers to get acquainted once he heard they'd be married.
all logic, no spontaneity. or so he thought.
he looks back at spock as the vulcan seems to be debating his answer. the first half is about what he would expect if he had put expectations on it. it's settled, then. it's not like he hates spock or anything, he's attractive and hasn't been awful to spend time with in the short span of time they've been given to learn each other. it's fine. he'll deal with it.
then spock keeps talking.
jim blinks.
blinks again.
tucks his multitool away in his pocket.
braces on the arms of the chair to roll himself up to his feet, expectant and energetic, truly energetic for the first time since he'd arrived, claps his hands with a measure of finality, and: ]
Yeah, sure, let's blow this popsicle stand. Any thoughts on where you wanna go or are we winging it until we get out far enough?
